Serzone

I’m looking for others’ experiences with serzone.
I’m a 46 yo man, in my 3rd day of serzone, 50 mg
2x/day for now. Bad side effects: headache like the back
of my skull smashed in; drowsiness; and today,
nausea. The depression was better than this! Has anyone
had this experience?

Should I press on?

Will these side effects diminish?

Will they return as soon as the daily miligrams are increased?

Call your doctor. Those side effects aren’t good.
I had side effects similar to that on another
drug(…I’d rather say it was a negative effect of the drug,
almost as if I was allergic).
Is this the first med you’ve tried?
    Serzone made me hungry!

Thanks. Actually, today is day 4, and the nausea
has decreased to nearly nothing. But Monday the dose
is scheduled to double. The little bit of dry outh
is nothing; the only thing left is the drowsiness.
But, in just these 4 days, I really do feel better!

I’ve been on the med Serzone for 5 weeks now and
have zero side effects. The beginning 2 weeks were
dreadful though (nasea, dizziness, sleepiness, felt afraid
to drive kinda felt drunk)…but I was sooo
desperate for help. I’d tried Paxil previously with no
success. I’m currently taking 400mg a day, but spliting
    the dose in two.
So far, now that I’ve been taking it a short while, I’m noticing a renewed interest
in hobbies that I’d given up since depression had
set in. Also, I have more energy and sleep better at
night. I’m waiting for the libedo increase to kick in.
Anyone had experience with this and Serzone?
Good luck with the Serzone….I hope you get better and
better….it sure seems to be happening to me.
    Thank God! :)

Im on my second day on Serzone , but because of
my sensitivity to these types of drugs, im just
starting with 50mg per day and taking it around 6pm at
night so i dont have to deal with affects at work. No
sickness , a little head ache and a little restless at
night during sleep. I couldnt take Paxil, Xanax,
wellbrutin or Prozac …they all made me panicky. Ive got my
    fingers crossed.

Thanks for the response. I’m in week 5 now, up to
400mg/day split twice a day. Some side effects remain–dry
mouth; a little dizziness; sleepiness. I hope these will
fade, because the drug has done wonders. I feel like me
again, and am slowly gaining perspective on what a blur
the last year has been and I didn’t even realize it.
On another post someone asked about dreams, and I
have noticed this, namely that I’m dreaming all night
long. Not in a restless way, but continual dreaming. I
do wish that would go away.

That’s so funny about the dreams. I’d had really
bad nightmares in the beginning weeks as well as some
major dizziness, naseau and the usual effects. But, the
    dreams, I hadn’t anticipated.
They are much more tame now, but still more vivid before…which I really
don’t mind. I wake up cheery and refreshed, sleeping
better than before the medication and have a positive
outlook about 75% of the time.
Things are looking up. Reconciling with my hubby. Throwing him his 35th
bday party this Sat. and really looking forward to
    being with our friends.
How are you doing lately? Any other folks having vivid dreams?

Week 6 of Serzone. Still dry mouth. Headaches
gone. Dreaming all night long, but not as vividly as
before. I slept through the night last night for the
first time in ages. Still sleepy. This has not abated
at all. Fell drowsy like the sleeping pill from the
night before hasn’t worn off. Usually lasts all
morning. But–the antidepressant effect has been great.
Last weekend was pretty rough, to the point that I
wondered if I’d gotten a “bad batch”. I am so thankful for
    this stuff.

I’ve been on serzone for five and a half weeks. I
noticed a difference almost right away. Life has been
very busy lately, and without this med, I would not
have the energy to do everything I’ve been needing to
do. Things are moving forward in a positive
direction. I’ve had the same two side effects since I
started on it, dry mouth and drowsiness. But for
everything serzone has done for me, I can definitely put up
    with that.

    Barbarabutterfly;
    Thanks for your response.
I’m in week 7 or 8 or so, and really discouraged. The
antidepressant effect seems largely to have worn off. I’m back
to traipsing around under the black cloud. The side
effects continue – dry mouth and eyeballs (my contacts
dry out) and if I take the night pill too late, I
have to get up several times to pee. I’m constantly
tired, though I have seen my productivity soar. I dream
all night long – nothing disturbing; they just don’t
stop. I spoke to my doctor today; he, of course, told
me to come in. I dread going through trying other
medications, especially after reading others’ horror stories
    here.
    Thanks for listening,
    Glenducci

Intresting, I had almost the same problem with
serzone. I gained so much weight on it. I was on it for 2
years (I was put on it around the time it was relativly
new). I was also really nasuous from it last summer (I
was afraid to eat anything because I thought I’d
throw it up). Last year the side effects got so bad
that I had my doctor switch me.
