Depression is a mental illness that is characterized by such conditions as feeling sad, depressed, and many others. This condition affects the person’s thoughts, mood and the body. If such condition left untreated it might lead to very unfavourable consequences and affect life as a whole.

Depression is a very serious condition, but fortunately, there are a number of treatments that can help to deal with it. These days you can find various effective antidepressant medications for depression, one of them is Paxil.

About Paxil

Paxil is a prescription antidepressant medication that is intended to treat depression and to smooth its symptoms. Paxil is a part of the class of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor antibiotics (SSRIs). The main reason why depression and anxiety conditions occur is imbalance of the chemicals found in the brain. One of these chemicals is called serotonin that is responsible for sending the send electrical signals between nerve cells. Paxil raises the levels of serotonin in the brain which in turn helps to deal with the condition.

Paxil is used to treat such conditions as: severe depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, social phobia, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder.

How to take Paxil medication

Paxil is available in tablet form and is taken by mouth once daily. You may take it regardless of food. You should take this antidepressant medication as it is recommended by your healthcare provider. Take the exact dosage, never miss it and take the medication for the period defined by the medical provider. Not following the recommendations given by the doctor might lead to the unwanted adverse reactions.

Paxil medications is not intended for everybody. It is not recommended to use this medication by the patients with the following conditions: kidney or liver disease, seizures or epilepsy, and manic-depressive disorder. You should inform your doctor in case you are pregnant or nursing a child in order to avoid the possible risks of congenital defects in a baby.

Adverse effects of Paxil

Paxil medication can provoke the following adverse effects: headache, tremor, anxiety, nervousness, nausea, diarrhea, appetite disorders, sleep disorders, and sexual disorders.

Stop taking Paxil if such reactions are seen: allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling, fever, irregular heartbeat, low blood pressure accompanied with dizziness and weakness or high blood pressure with severe headache and vision, or bleeding or bruising.

In case any adverse effects are observed, inform your doctor without a delay.

Precautions when taking Paxil

Avoid using alcohol when using Paxil.

Continue treatment with Paxil even if you feel better. Never stop using this medication without first consulting with the medical provider, otherwise unfavourable side reactions can happen. To avoid these adverse effects your doctor might recommend you to decrease dose gradually.

I hope someone has help for me! (fingers
crossed)

I started taking wellbutrin in August of last year
after getting so depressed and overweight I seeked
medical attention.

My doc started me on 150mg Sr
first two weeks and increased me to 150mg 2x daily.
Since then, I have felt great and lost 43 pounds.

Reciently, about a month ago, I have been feeling depressed
and low again. VERY tired and lazy feeling all day. I
am thinking it is the heat factor and my doc said I
am just tired from working all day.

I am a
little afraid to tell him I am feeling depressed and
that he might increase my dose (I worry about seziure
factors) I like to seldomly have a glass of
wine.

Anyhow, I feel spacey and out of it, like before. Any of
you experienced this? Could I be getting better and
not need 300mg? Have any of you self experimented
with this med? I am thinking of trying to cut back to
150mg in the morning and see if I start feeling
better!

Also, from the heat I have been getting more dry
mouthed and thirsty. I am thinking it is from the med as
well. Any advice would be so so helpful! Thank you
bunched~
